Description
The ruined church at Eastwell Park, Ashford, Kent. allegedly the final resting place of King Richard the 3rd's illegitimate Son. A local historian, Ray Fielding has kindly furnished me with the details of the demise of the church. Ray has stated that the fabric of the church was weakened by the military tank trials that were carried out in Eastwell Park in 1944 which actually weakened the structure leading it to collapse in 1951. Ray used to go there as a child and he met a man there who was working on the estate when the church actually collapsed. The funeral furniture was moved to the Victoria & Albert Museum in London and the stained glass windows were moved to Wye and Canterbury. The main building blocks which were of chalk and flint was used in its construction.
